Prince of Poets

As Abu Dhabi moved towards achieving its goal of becoming a leading regional capital of culture, the TV program “Prince of Poets” was launched in 2007 to put poetry again in the centre of the cultural scene.

A television program organized by the Cultural and Heritage Programs and Festivals Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, once every two years on Al Raha Beach Theater in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is a literary competition in the field of eloquent Arabic poetry, the first season of which was launched in 2007 . Each season, the program receives thousands of poems from Arab poets from all over the world, and the jury sorts and evaluates the participating works, after which more than 1 50 poets who have been selected will be hosted in the capital Abu Dhabi, and the jury also conducts individual interviews with each poet Then, the top 40 poets are selected from among the applicants to enter the testing phase, leading to the list of 20 poets who will participate in the program's live episodes.

At the end of each season, the first-place winner receives the title of "Prince of Poets", the cloak of hair, the seal of the emirate, and a cash prize of one million dirhams, the second-place winner receives a cash prize of 500 thousand dirhams, and the third-place winner receives 300 thousand The winner of the fourth place will receive 200,000 dirhams, and the winner in the fifth place will receive 100,000 dirhams.
