Prince of Poet

A television program organized by the Cultural Programs and Heritage Festivals Committee - Abu Dhabi, once every two years at Al Raha Beach Theater in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is a literary competition in the field of classical Arabic poetry. Its first season was launched in 2007.

Each season, the program accepts thousands of poems from Arab poets around the world, and the jury sorts and evaluate the participating works, after which more than 150 selected poets will be hosted in the capital, Abu Dhabi. The jury also conducts individual interviews with each poet. Then, the best 40 poets are selected from the applicants to enter the audition stage to reach the list of 20 poets who will participate in the live episodes of the program.

At the conclusion of each season, the first-place winner receives the title of “Prince of Poets,” a robe, the emirate’s ring, and a cash prize of one million UAE dirhams. The second-place winner receives a cash prize of 500 thousand dirhams, and the third-place winner receives 300 thousand dirhams, and the fourth-place winner gets 200,000 dirhams, while the fifth-place winner gets 100,000 dirhams.
